Do not underestimate breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal on the day. Breakfast counteracts your muscles from breaking down in the most effective way. At night, blood sugar goes down and if you do not eat a good breakfast, you stop your muscle from growing.

Nutrition

Do not take nutrition supplements in place of food. Nutrition works best as a compliment to your food or as a boost before training. But never believe that nutrition makes your muscle grow the way that real food does. Also test different foods and nutrition supplements to see what combinations are best for your specific needs.

Eat every 3-4 hours

Your muscle grows, provided you have the right amount of blood sugar in your body. As long as you keep your levels in a normal range, the body knows it’s okay to build muscles. You have that right amount of sugar in your body about 3-4 hours after your last meal. That means you must eat every 3-4 hours to maintain the right balance in your body and to continue to grow muscle.

Drink Water

Every chemical rejection in your body happens in a water-based environment. If you do not drink water, you are going to dehydrate, and your body will not function adequately. You need enough water intake to be able to burn fat, build muscle and properly condition when training.

Control what you eat

Analyze what you eat and see if you are eating enough to build muscle. One way to do that is to weigh your food over the course of three days. This is to see your how much protein, carbs and fat you are ingesting. Do this a couple of times a year as well to see your development. This is easy to do with help of a diet program that you can find in various books or through the internet.

Vary the food

This is a key for success. The big advantage you get is that your body is getting a variety of nutritional sources. There is also less risk of vitamin and protein deficiencies that could possibly inhibit muscle growth.

Eat right before training

You need to load your body right before you can perform a good workout. If you are training in the morning, it’s not a bad idea to eat something at night before bed so your body already has a reliable energy reservoir for when you wake up. If you are training in the evening, you should eat regular healthy meals throughout the day prior to your workout.

Eat right after training

After breakfast, this is the most important meal for you, even if you only choose a good nutrition drink immediately after training. This is because after a big workout, your muscles are likely somewhat broken down, and you need to eat something in order to build them back up again. Your muscles also need both protein and carbs to grow, in addition to re-hydrating you, which is why nutrition drinks are so effective. This gives you both carbs and protein fast.
